- Corporate Counsel
Description
The Corporate Counsel provides professional legal services, guidance and support in the areas of general organizational legal issues and transportation law, including, but not limited to, reviewing, negotiating, memorializing and advising on customer, vendor and other business contracts. This position also requires specialty legal work and various other projects as assigned. Corporate Counsel must demonstrate the appropriate level of proficiency for the required competencies.
Responsibilities:
Preparing, reviewing and negotiating transportation agreements.
Interpreting laws and regulations and supporting legal and regulatory compliance.
Conducting legal research and drafting legal memorandums.
Providing accurate, relevant and timely legal advice on a variety of legal matters affecting the Company.
Collaborating with other employees both within and outside the Legal Department.
Preparing, reviewing and negotiating vendor and other miscellaneous agreements.
Liaising with senior members of the Legal Department and outside counsel.
Staying up to date with changes in laws and regulations affecting the Company's business.
Representing the Company in dealings with third parties, including governments, customers, service providers and suppliers.
Requirements
Education: JD Law degree from an ABA accredited law school, required
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in the practice of law, preferred.
Experience at a recognized law firm or in-house legal department, preferred.
Experience preparing, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and agreements, preferred.
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required
Certifications: Licensed to practice law in at least one state, required.
Additional Requirements: Licensed to practice law and in good standing in Arkansas or licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to become licensed to practice law in Arkansas within one year of employment, required.
