ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Civil Litigation | Construction | Real Estate | Commercial Law
Austin, Texas | Full-Time | In-Office | 3-6 Years of Experience
| Build a practice with real responsibility, direct mentorship, and meaningful civil-law work. |
Bollier Ciccone Stinson, LLP is an Austin law firm representing clients in construction, real estate, commercial disputes, business law, and other related civil litigation and transactional matters. We value professional initiative, resourcefulness, practical judgment, cooperation, and excellent client service.
Our civil practice gives associates the opportunity to work on matters that affect Texas businesses, property owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other professionals. We are looking for an attorney who wants to grow as a well-rounded civil lawyer, not simply fill a narrow desk role.
BCS seeks a Texas-licensed Associate Attorney with 3-6 years of civil litigation experience. The role is designed for an associate who wants hands-on litigation experience, direct client interaction, exposure to construction and real estate matters, and practical training.
This is an in-office position in Austin. We believe in-person work supports mentorship, fast collaboration, active case strategy, and better training for associates. We also value planning, communication, and reasonable boundaries while recognizing that client needs, court deadlines, hearings, mediations, and trials sometimes require work outside standard business hours.
- Work directly with partners, attorneys, paralegals, and clients on civil litigation and transactional matters.
- Participate in case strategy, intake and evaluation, written discovery, depositions, hearings, mediation, arbitration, settlement, trial preparation, trials, and final resolution.
- Draft and revise pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, orders, settlement documents, contracts, liens, bond-related documents, deeds, correspondence, client updates, and other legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare written analysis and recommendations.
- Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, consultants, and internal team members.
- Manage competing deadlines, maintain organized files, and take ownership of assigned projects.
- Use legal research, e-filing, document-management, and collaboration tools to work efficiently and accurately.
- Meaningful responsibility at a smaller firm where associates are trusted to contribute to strategy, drafting, client communications, and matter management.
- Direct mentorship and regular feedback from experienced attorneys.
- Opportunities to build litigation skills through hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial preparation.
- Exposure to both litigation and transactional work in construction, real estate, commercial, lien and bond, contract, and business matters.
- Competitive compensation depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.
- Benefits including health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program, generous 401(k) retirement plan, paid leave, performance bonus eligibility, cell phone stipend, and continuing education stipend.
- A candid discussion during the hiring process about compensation, bonus eligibility, billable expectations, mentorship, and what success looks like in the role.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Texas.
- 3-6 years of civil litigation experience.
- Strong legal research, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain high-quality work under pressure.
- Professional judgment, responsiveness, organization, and ownership of assigned matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative.
- Experience with construction, real estate, commercial litigation, lien and bond claims, contract disputes, or business litigation.
- Experience with hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trial preparation, or courtroom advocacy.
- Transactional drafting experience involving contracts, deeds, lien documents, construction documents, real estate documents, or related business documents.
- Comfort working directly with clients and providing practical, business-minded legal advice.
- Interest in using technology and organized workflows to improve client service and reduce avoidable inefficiency.
- In the first year, you will develop confidence drafting core litigation documents, managing discovery, and preparing practical case analyses.
- You will build strong working relationships with clients, attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
- You will take increasing ownership of assigned matters by identifying next steps, communicating clearly, and meeting deadlines.
- You will grow your litigation judgment through feedback, preparation, client contact, and participation in meaningful case events.
All applications will be treated confidentially. Please send a resume, cover letter, and writing sample to [email protected]. References may be requested later in the process.
Candidates who meet the required qualifications and are interested in growing in these practice areas are encouraged to apply, even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.
