PositionSummary:
The Child Welfare Program at TLSC assists parents, families, and the public with understanding the Child Welfare System and procedures, and the legal rights and processes that accompany CPS cases in Texas, bytelephoneandin-person.TLSC’sChildWelfareProgramincludestheFamilyHelpLineandKincareLegal Assistance Project and coordinates with other legal aid providers in referrals and service delivery via the Family Early Defense Network . The Child Welfare Program Managing Attorney will bring enthusiasm and commitment to Texas Legal Services Center’s mission and values, and will demonstrate trust, leadership, service, and courage.The incumbent in this position is responsible for their caseload, making relevant referrals, supervising, and mentoring Child Welfare Program staff, coordinating and supervising various program activities, and meeting grant reporting requirements.

Provideleadershipandcultivateworkingrelationships,internally,withlegalaidproviders,with grantors and other social services agencies in the community, to advance program and organizational goals.
Currentknowledgeandexpertiseofthelawandlegalsystem,includingrelevantpartsofthelaw relatedto childwelfare,family law,conservatorship,access,childsupport, enforcement ofcourt ordersand judgments, paternity,termination, adoption, negotiationand mediation, and the CPS system in general.
Fiveyears’experienceasaCPScaseworkerorattorneyrepresentingchildren,parents,orthestate in CPS-related cases.
Experience (Required)
Fiveyears’licensureasanattorney.
Physical Requirements
Sedentaryworkthatinvolvessittingmostofthetime.
Occasionalbending,squatting,andkneeling.
Exertingupto10poundsofforceoccasionally,andanegligibleamountofforceasneeded,attimes to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
